HILL STATIONS IN SOUTH-INDIA THAT ARE SURELY WAITING FOR YOU TO VISIT

Traveling is the best therapy and the best break from a busy and suffocating daily routine. It makes us feel fresh and lively; the best part is that we learn many new things about different cultures, areas, food, and amazing nature.

Hill stations are the best locations to spend your vacations. These are the best destinations in every season and months. Hill stations give you a different experience in different months. The mesmerizing beauty of hilly areas creates a place in our hearts and makes us visit again and again. 

Tourists usually visit hill stations in the summer season to run from the heat and enjoy the chill weather. But the winter season also attracts many tourists because of the extreme cold weather that makes the view more scenic. The air and the view are so refreshing.

When we talk about hill stations, our mind directly wanders to the northern part of India; we usually forget that there are many hill stations in South-India as well. 

  • MUNNAR

This popular hill station is the tea estate of Kerala. Devikulam lake; Eravikulam National Park and the Nilgiri Tahr; Chinnakanal and Anayirangal waterfall; Tea museum draws lots of tourists. Also, there is a peak for trekking, Anamudi. Munnar has a large variety of rare fauna. It is a green bed with peaks, rivers, and many waterfalls. No wonder why it is called the ‘Kashmir of South’. 

  • WAYANAD

Wayanad is in Kerala sharing its border with Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. It is home to numerous species and most of its land is surrounded by dense forests. You can see India’s largest Banasura Sagar Dam; Edakkal caves; Kuruva Island; Chembra Peak; Muthang Wildlife Sanctuary; Pookot Lake and Kanthanpara Waterfalls.

  • KODAIKANAL

This ‘Princess of Hill Stations’ is located in Palani hill in Tamil Nadu. The town is filled with the beauty of nature. The waterfall and the misty clouds make the best combo. Kodai lake; Berijam lake; Dolphin noise; Pillar Rocks; Guna Cave, are some tourist destinations in Kodaikanal.  

  • COORG (KODAGU)

This district of Karnataka preserves its heritage of British India. You can visit Abbey falls; Nagarahole Wildlife Sanctuary; Madikeri- Scotland of India; Mallai Falls; Madikeri Fort and many more tourist sites. This destination is a complete package for trek, rafting, museum, temples, mountains, lakes, and waterfalls for an adventurous vacation.

This town of Tamil Nadu is locally called as ‘Queen of Nilgiris’. It is a popular tourist destination because of its weather and biosphere reserve. Ooty lake; Ooty Rose Garden; Avalanche lake; Thread Garden; Katari Falls and many more spots hold the tourists’ breath.

  • IDUKKI

Idukki district is located in Kerela. The beautiful Periyar Tiger Reserve, Thekkady; Idukki Arch Dam; Hill View Park, attracts a large number of tourists. Idukki also has some small villages to pass by and enjoy. It is popular because of its different peaks, sanctuaries, waterfalls, and some created tourist spots. 

  • COONOOR

COONOOR is a town in Tamil Nadu. It is famous for its tea p field and tea production. Sim’’ Park; Dolphin Noise; Rallia Dam; Abbey Falls are the must-visits. People usually take a combined package for Ooty and Coonoor, as this town is near and completes a trip.

  • ANANTAGIRI HILLS

 Anantagiri Hills is in Telangana, its land is mostly covered with forests. Trekking is the most popular activity there and is suitable for a short recovery break. This place will refresh you with its beauty and atmosphere.

  • MAREDUMILLI

This village of Andhra Pradesh is ‘THE’ destination for an amazing trek and breath-taking views. Jalatharangini Waterfalls; Amruthadhara Falls; Swarnandhra Falls; Jungle camps; Ramachodavaram; Papikondali National Park. The area is small and wilder than others as it is strictly maintained for the tribal population.

  • PONMUDI

Ponmudi is also one of Kerala’s hill stations. The golden peak is the hot spot for trekking in the Golden Valley. Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary and Kallar are also popular tourist spots.
